About Badgerbrook

Badgerbrook is a very popular primary school with a reputation for high standards of behaviour and achievement. We strive to create a special place where all children, parents, governors and staff feel valued and respected and work together within a happy, friendly and caring learning community. We promote a whole school ethos of ‘No Outsiders at Badgerbrook’. The school is a place where everyone is welcome and all difference is celebrated. Our aim is that our children leave primary school happy and excited about living in a world full of difference and diversity, whether that difference is through ethnicity, gender, ability, age, sexual orientation or religion. We want everyone to enjoy coming to our school!

The school opened in 1992 with just 72 pupils. We currently have almost 420 pupils aged from 4 to 11, with 2 classes in each year group, an enthusiastic and hardworking staff and a committed governing body. We were judged Outstanding by Ofsted in 2011.

We are part of the Thomas Estley Teaching School Alliance (TELA) and work closely with a range of schools across South Leicestershire. Working with TELA and The University of Leicester we offer training opportunities for student teachers. We also work with Nottingham Trent University and Leicester College to provide classroom placements for their students.

We have an active PTA – the Friends of Badgerbrook – which organises a range of fund-raising and social events. Any parent is welcome to join our PTA.

We hope that you find your visit to our website helpful, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

Boundaries Consultation

The Local Authority (LA) has approached both governing bodies of Badgerbrook Primary School and Whetstone St Peter’s Church Aided Primary School, seeking to adjust the catchment line between the two schools.  We are sending a letter out to all parents.

See below for more details

The adjustment is sought to balance out future school place pressures in response to planning permission approval for new additional housing developments in the local area. The process of the adjustment is known as an in-year variation and will come into force from September 2019 affecting those children who are applying for entry September 2019.

Governors of both schools are in favour of the adjustment and understand the reasoning for the adjustment. However, before a final decision is taken governors of both schools are seeking views from all parents whose child attends either Badgerbrook Primary School or Whetstone St Peter’s Church Aided Primary School.

To make your response please see the following link:

The closing date to make a response is 18/01/19.

The final outcome of the decision will not be known until late Spring Term. For more information, please contact either Headteacher in the first instance.
