Thank you team Badgerbrook for all your hard work this week in ensuring school is safe and ready to open for our 115 key workers on Monday. It’s really sad this is the maximum capacity school can safely accommodate.

As you can see from the photos, classrooms and the school environment is looking very different to ensure social distancing is maintained. #onewaysystems #2m #safety

Thank you to all our parents for your continued support and understanding - the safety of pupils and staff is our main priority. #resilience

Badgerbrook food bank

We are starting a food bank facility in our school hall. It is for anyone who needs to use it. During this testing time, financial difficulties mean sometimes there could be a food shortage in the household. Therefore, we want to do our bit to try to help and support those who need it. The success of the food bank will depend on a constant supply of donations. If you have any food to spare, could you leave it at our designated drop off point outside our school hall from Tuesday 28th April. The food needs to be non-perishables, such as; tinned and packet food. E.g.; tinned baked beans, rice, pasta, biscuits etc.

I do not have a definite day when we will first open, as it depends on the amount of food donated this week. But we aim to open on Monday 4th May. We will send a text message out beforehand to all parents to confirm this.

It will be open daily from 9- 11 in the school hall. Entry and exit by the hall doors, with 2 m social distancing.

We will continue to open as long as we have a supply of food, so we’ll need the donations to keep coming in. All donations will be gratefully received. Thanks for your kindness and generosity in advance.

A message from Mrs Newcombe in Year 5:

“I’d be very interested in collecting local history memories from any older folk who are stuck in, with time on their hands .... it would be fabulous to hear about past events, share memories or photos etc. You can either send them to me at Badgerbrook Primary School, Badger Drive, LE8 6ZW, share on here or email office@badgerbrook.leics.sch.uk. When school reopens fully we will have a fabulous local history resource. Please share with anyone you think might be interested... thank you.”

For those key worker parents whose children are attending Badgerbrook tomorrow (you already know if this applies to you);

🔹Arrive by the hall and wait outside a safe distance apart until you are called inside.

🔹There will be 3 tables; FS & Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6 - go to the correct table and register your child when called.

🔹Following government guidelines it’s important that you stay at home unless absolutely necessary, in order to limit the spread of infection. So therefore we will ensure the children in school is kept to a minimum with only those children with 2 key workers being able to attend, or our numbers would be too high to remain safe to be open.

🔹Children are NOT to wear school uniform as clothes need to be washed daily, to kill the COVID-19 virus. This is following government guidance because it lives on clothing.

Thank you for your continued support.

Please share this post.
